Try Clay Wheel Class FAQs (Just click on the question to expand the answer)

When is the one-time wheel class?

Every Friday night from 7-9pm. This is not a walk-in class and it usually sells out, so be sure to register for specific dates like birthdays, anniversaries, etc well in advance.

Who is this class for?

This class is for adults and young adults in high school and is a great no-pressure, no-commitment class to see if the pottery wheel is for you. You'll learn the fundamentals of throwing on the wheel and make 2 pieces of functional pottery in your class.

What is the cost?

Try Clay is $35/person

What will I do in the class?

Your instructor will begin the class by showing you the steps to make pottery on the wheel and then go around the class supporting and helping you as you try your hand at it. You'll learn about centering, opening, pulling and shaping the clay during your 2-hour class. We’ll glaze your work in the glaze combo of the month so that you’ll have a functional, microwaveable, dishwasherable (that’s not a word, but I like it) piece of pottery to use and remember your experience.

When will I get my pieces back?

You'll get your pieces back in about 3.5(ish) weeks from the date of your class. We'll send you an email when your pieces are ready to be picked up from the studio.

Do you offer refunds on cancellations?

Please note that due to the small number of seats available each week, these classes are non-refundable. We are happy to help you reschedule if you can give us a week before the date of your originally scheduled class.

What should I wear/bring?

Wear hiking/gardening clothes that can get dirty. Clay washes out, but you definitely don't want to be in your best. Skirts and dresses aren't recommended. Bring something to pull your hair back, and leave rings/watches at home as the clay gunks them up a bit. Again, washable, but kind of an ordeal to get out. If you'd like, you can bring an apron or old towel to lay across your lap.

Anything else to know?

Our one-time classes usually sell out, so be sure to register for specific dates like birthdays, anniversaries, etc well in advance. And, beware...this pottery thing is addictive!
